The Right Way To Clean Glasses
By Essilor News

It's estimated that three out of four adults in the United States wear some sort of vision correction, with about 64 percent of them wearing eyeglasses. Unfortunately, most people don't know how to properly clean glasses, and instead rely on their shirt tail, a handy tissue or - yikes! - a paper towel. Why are shirts and paper towels such a bad idea? They carry dust and fibers that can scratch your lenses.
The good news? Cleaning your glasses is as easy as washing your hands. According to the American Optometric Association, the best cleaning solution is quite simple: dishwashing soap and warm water.
Follow these easy steps for clean glasses everyday:
- Run your glasses under warm water
- Apply a drop of dishwashing detergent on your fingers and lather the lenses, frames and earpieces
- Rinse with warm water and dry with a soft, clean cotton cloth
To take your clean glasses one step further, talk to your eye doctor about glasses with an anti-reflective coating. This special coating will help prevent scratches, smudges and even dust from appearing on your lenses.
