Students are the Winners During Eagles Eye Mobile 2018 Road to Minnesota Tour

By Essilor News

There’s no doubt fans in Philadelphia will be celebrating their team’s big game win all year long. And while the Eagles took home the coveted Vince Lombardi Trophy, they’re not the only winners after the big game. One hundred eighty-three students received free eye exams and 115 of those got free eyeglasses from Essilor of America, Essilor Vision Foundation (EVF) and the Eagles Charitable Foundation during the Eagles Eye Mobile 2018 Road to Minnesota Tour.

"This whole week was a successful scoring drive for students in need,” says EVF President Kim Schuy. “It’s not always obvious when a child has a vision issue, and children rely on their parents, teachers, and community to be advocates for their vision care. Any opportunity to help to kids reach their full potential by giving them the ability to see clearly is always worthwhile. And it was especially fun to join the Eagles Charitable Foundation on the road to Minnesota.”

ODs Keith Schindler and Jess Keller at the Bismarck, ND event

Students in need in La Grange, IL, Racine, WI and Bismarck, ND, the hometowns of three Philadelphia Eagles players, received eye exams and glasses, and we were there to provide onsite operational support, lab services and in-kind donations. We are grateful to the independent eyecare professionals who helped us score a touchdown for good vision along the way: Brandon Begotka, OD, Jessica Keller, OD, Janeki Patel, OD, Matt Pietruszka, OD, Jasmine Said, OD, Keith Schindler, OD, who was Eagles QB Carson Wentz’s eye doctor, and Scott Schumacher, OD. In addition, Mark Skowron, OD, represented the Illinois Optometric Association, and Nancy Kopp, OD, was onsite in Bismarck from the North Dakota Optometric Association. They were joined by EVF and Essilor employees who put together the winning play to give vision a louder voice.
