DALLAS – March 1, 2018 – Essilor of America today announced that Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer Greg Ericson is a recipient of the 2018 CIO of the Year® ORBIE® Award. The awards were presented by the Dallas CIO Leadership Association and honor CIOs who have demonstrated excellence in technology leadership. With nearly 700 in attendance, Ericson won in the global category which includes multi-national companies with over $1.5 billion annual revenue and 1,000 employees outside the U.S.

“It feels great. It’s incredible recognition of the Essilor IT team and some of the initiatives we’ve been working on,” Ericson says. “It’s really a tribute to Essilor and how transformational some of our programs are, including ways to open up new revenue streams, and helping our customer service group determine what we can do to really make the customer experience phenomenal.”

Ericson joined Essilor of America in 2014. He is actively involved with the Essilor Vision Foundation, MentorNet and serves on the University of Texas Dallas Advisory Board. “My greatest success over the last four years with Essilor is the transformation of IT, elevating the performance from a back office IT team to a team that is aligned to a brand that focuses on commercial value, delivers referential service, and is linked to our mission of improving lives by improving sight.”

There were 150 nominees and five finalists in each of the five categories. Finalists and winners were selected by an independent peer review process, led by prior ORBIE recipients, based upon the size and scope of responsibilities; leadership and management effectiveness; business value created by technology innovation; and engagement in industry and community endeavors.

You can see interviews with all the finalists in the global category in this video.
