Match program supports Kids Vision for Life
Essilor of America’s top priority is to provide patients of all ages with the best possible vision. Beginning this spring, Crizal® for Kids No-Glare lenses will elevate awareness of the Kids Vision for Life program by matching each $5 donation made to the Essilor Vision Foundation, up to a maximum $30,000 with a goal of raising $100,000 to help address children’s visual needs.
Launched in 2008, Kids Vision for Life, a program of the Essilor Vision Foundation, strives to eliminate poor vision and the related lifelong consequences. The initiative partners with administration and school nurses to provide vision screenings, eye exams and new eyeglasses to in-need students aged 5-12, at no cost to the family through mobile clinics, school systems, central locations and special events. A 2011 study posted in the Journal of Behavioral Optometry, and showcased by The Vision Impact Institute, states that poor vision is prevalent in 25 percent of all school children in the United States and is one of the most prevalent handicapping conditions in childhood. However, research has shown, of children in the 9 to 15 years age group, only 10 percent who needed eyeglasses actually had them.
“We know that the best vision leads to a more productive life for a child, so it only made sense to create an initiative that had a direct impact on Kids Vision for Life, generating awareness and financial support to further grow the program.” said Lauri Crawford, senior vice president of marketing, Essilor of America.
Crizal for Kids pairs Crizal® No-Glare lenses with a safe and impact-resistant Airwear® polycarbonate lens material, which provides children the best lens experience. Children can choose from two lens packages within the Crizal for Kids product line: Crizal® Kids UV™ lenses to prevent glare and Crizal® Prevencia™ Kids lenses which filter out harmful blue light transmissions.
