For Amanda Barker, OD, optometry allows her to combine her passions of helping others and giving back. “I chose this field of work because it offers me a great opportunity to give back in amazing ways. Personally, I thrive on mission-related projects and am most fulfilled when I get the blessing of making a difference in the lives of others.”

Dr. Barker has traveled both domestically and internationally to do mission work, but the needs of her own community are always top of mind. As an eyecare provider with an emphasis in pediatrics, I recognize the need for vision screenings, comprehensive eyecare, and glasses for kids as they grow. As a behavioral optometrist with a vision therapy clinic, I understand the intricacy between vision and learning. And ultimately as a mother, I understand the importance of providing our kids the opportunity to maximize their personal success and achieve life goals through education. Eighty percent of learning is through the sense of vision. I am honored to have the ability to potentially make a difference in a child's life in such a crucial way that may provide a lasting and positive impact on their entire future.
